1. Hurghada
Stay
About the destination: Hurghada is a resort town on the Red Sea Coast of Egypt. A former small and unimposing fishing village, today, the resort of Hurghada is almost unrecognizable from its past life and has grown to become the most visited tourist destination in the whole of Egypt, with more than 100 different hotels, many of which line the shoreline. Famous for its superb diving opportunities, Hurghada is especially appealing to those with little experience of scuba diving, who come to marvel at the underwater reefs and awesome marine life. The main reason to visit Hurghada is the Red Sea, which is excellent for diving or snorkeling. See incredible coral reefs and hundreds of varieties of tropical fish just 10 m from the beach. Hurghada offers many activities not to be found anywhere else on Earth: quad-biking hundreds of miles into the Sahara desert for tea with a Bedoin tribe, then camel-riding across Biblical plains to see remote and ancient wonders; diving and snorkeling around a vibrant and colorful coral reef; boat trips to the unpopulated Big and Little Gifton islands; swimming in the warm sea; good shopping; excellent and varied cuisine from across the world, etc. If you were to choose to stay in your hotel complex for the duration of your break, you would miss out on much more than you bargained for.

2. Luxor
Stay
About the destination: Luxor is the premier travel destination in Upper Egypt and the Nile Valley. The dynastic and religious capital of Middle Kingdom and New Kingdom Egypt, Luxor has much for travellers to enjoy: vast temples, ancient royal tombs, spectacular desert and river scenery and a bustling modern life. Numerous architectural monuments of Luxor are entered into the List of the world cultural heritage of UNESCO. Luxor consists of the City of Luxor on the East side of the Nile, the town of Karnak just north of Luxor and Thebes on the west side of the Nile across from Luxor. The Valley of Kings is one of the main reason why tourists come to Luxor. It is an enormous place full of various different sized tombs, which were lavishly constructed for the powerful Pharaohs, queens, and nobles. King Tutankhamen tomb was found here in the 1920's almost untouched. Other major attractions in Luxor are: the temple complexes of Luxor and Karnak, Medinet Habu, the Tombs of the Nobles, The Ramesseum Temple and the Valley of the Queens.Beautiful and ancient, Luxor is the world's best collection of antiquities.

3. Edfu
Stay
About the destination: Edfu; also spelt Idfu, or in modern French as Edfou, and known in antiquity as Behdet) is an Egyptian city, located on the west bank of the Nile River between Esna and Aswan, with a population of approximately sixty thousand people. For the ancient history of the city, see below. Edfu is the site of the Ptolemaic Temple of Horus and an ancient settlement, Tell Edfu (described below). About 5 km (3.1 mi) north of Edfu are remains of ancient pyramids. It was capital of the nome II of the Upper Egypt being already important in the Old Empire. It was the origin of the caravans that left for the oasis of Jarga, to the west, to the mines of the eastern desert and to the coast of the Red Sea, to the east. The oldest discoveries are dated during Dynasty III but the place had to be inhabited beforehand.

4. Aswan
Stay
About the destination: Aswan is a city in the south of Egypt, some 680km south of Cairo, just below the Aswan Dam and Lake Nasser, with a population of 275,000. Aswan is far more relaxed and smaller than Cairo and Luxor. Aswan is the smallest of the three major tourist cities on the Nile. Aswan is calming and relaxing and has a laid-back feel to it. Aswan has some unique gems. Rock cut monument Abu Simbel, to the south is one of Egypt's most daring symbols of Egyptian power. The sanctuary temples of Philae and Kalabsha present excursions reminiscent of Greece. Other places worth visiting in Aswan include: The dual temples of sobek and horus at Kwam Umbu, and the well preserved temple of horus at Idfu. Aswan is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Nile.

5. Kom Ombo
Stop
About the destination: Kom Ombo is a small city located in Upper Egypt, known for its beautiful temple and rich history. The temple of Kom Ombo is a unique and fascinating structure, as it is dedicated to two gods: Sobek, the crocodile-headed god, and Horus, the falcon-headed god. This duality reflects the city's position at the border between Upper and Lower Egypt, where different cultures and traditions met and blended. Visitors to Kom Ombo can explore the temple's intricate carvings and hieroglyphs, which tell the stories of the gods and their worshippers. They can also admire the well-preserved crocodile mummies, which were once considered sacred animals and symbols of fertility and protection. Apart from the temple, Kom Ombo offers other attractions and activities, such as a traditional market, a Nubian village, and a boat ride on the Nile River. Visitors can also enjoy the local cuisine, which features fresh fish, vegetables, and spices. Overall, Kom Ombo is a must-see destination for anyone interested in ancient Egypt and its fascinating culture. Its temples, monuments, and landscapes offer a glimpse into a distant and mysterious past, while its people and traditions showcase the warmth and hospitality of modern-day Egypt.
